Perceived Balance

In a distant land lived the other

who understood what our words meant.

I hoped to meet that person someday

and ask, what was it that most didn’t understand?

Despite no direct contact

neither any intention of addressing to,

the distant one’s feelings were exact

to those of a few, strange.

But life rarely allows similarity to co-exist

for they break the balance of false and true.

So before I could meet the “distant”,

who in fact was closer with a similar view,

opinions changed for either one of us

and the world was back to the perceived balance it knew.
