On the seat right next to mine

there was an old & torn book.

Faded ink on it spoke of a time,

Long gone now. It seemed bespoke.

Out of habit to turn pages,

My eyes started running over the faded words.

A few pages later there was a bookmark

on which written were these words…

Once you read, place the marker into the next page

and write a few lines about yourself,

Become a part of the book of age.

Keep it back on the seat, this was never meant for a bookshelf.

Upon doing as instructed I figured, I was reader number 511.

The book once belonged to this traveller

Who wished to meet the World.

Alas! he could not for time ran out. He was a believer.

He was reader number 001

and now I was a part of his world.

Can I?

Often in the evening strolls

a realisation sneaks up

which recalls something really tough.

Should I continue or give up?

The stigma of latter can be rough

but what if I am fed up?

Nothing will ever be enough.

Characterisation has made it hard to give up

even on something which makes me miserable.

So I started to bluff to myself…

The worst kind of gamble.

Please don’t berate me for leaving now.

I tried but couldn’t finish somehow.

Only a human, I am.

I wish I had a backspace key now.

Regardless of what they say,

What they say does matter.

Let me find a better way,

Allow me to choose the latter.

I shall come back better,

I shall come back brighter,

I will feel honest and lighter.

Giving up does not make me any less of a fighter.

If something makes you miserable, there is no shame in giving it up. Giving up to try something new is actually a sign of bravery.

Reality Check

I see comparison in the name of equality, but why? Man and Woman are two sides of the same coin, aren’t they?

Typical images are no longer valid.

Both Venus and Mars revolve around the Sun.

Life has moved on at a pace so rapid,

Yet the comparison seems to be undone.

Man, the strong and tough all times,

Too faces agony and tears.

Want to hold hands or cry aren’t crimes,

We are fearless despite our fears.

We hold, protect, preserve, and care,

Nothing which the other doesn’t do.

Man is one who takes on a dare,

Weak at expressing but our love is true.

Woman, the source of life and heart,

Too sweats to earn bread and butter.

Want to be independent and have her own start,

Doesn’t make her any less of a mother.

She is practical despite her emotions.

Her beautiful eyes hold a fire so true.

She holds, protects, preserves, and care.

Nothing which the other doesn’t do.

World needs both the sides,

Both the sides make one coin.

Without one the other cannot stride,

Dots are there but we ignore to join.
