When I close my eyes

When I close my eyes I see

A smiling face of me.

Maybe it is what I have

or, maybe it is something I hope to be.

Nonetheless, a smile on the face is what

we all hope to keep.

And when I open my eyes post that sight,

that smile somehow comes to me.

Therefore every time I long for a smile,

I close my eyes and just see.

I feel happy.

Can I?

Often in the evening strolls

a realisation sneaks up

which recalls something really tough.

Should I continue or give up?

The stigma of latter can be rough

but what if I am fed up?

Nothing will ever be enough.

Characterisation has made it hard to give up

even on something which makes me miserable.

So I started to bluff to myself…

The worst kind of gamble.

Please don’t berate me for leaving now.

I tried but couldn’t finish somehow.

Only a human, I am.

I wish I had a backspace key now.

Regardless of what they say,

What they say does matter.

Let me find a better way,

Allow me to choose the latter.

I shall come back better,

I shall come back brighter,

I will feel honest and lighter.

Giving up does not make me any less of a fighter.

If something makes you miserable, there is no shame in giving it up. Giving up to try something new is actually a sign of bravery.

Rusted

An old bike sits in my garage.

It is covered in dust

and barely does it look nice.

One day it shall rust.

It was my favourite once,

I used to spend hours on it

riding through my favourite paths,

when suddenly it started to break down,

delayed my every plan.

I could no longer go around

and felt like a different man.

Everything has a life span.

When something/someone denies you from being the best version of yourself, understand that their time in your life is now over.

-Nishant, The Poet and the Pen

Let me

Let me be your lyricist

and write that befitting song.

Let every pulse under my wrist

add a beat for as long

as I continue to exist.

Let a music be born

and reverberate in all directions.

To the world you may not be great

because of your imperfections.

But to me you are,

The person from the pond’s reflection.

It is you and always just you. When you write your own song, it lasts forever.

-Nishant, The Poet and the Pen.

Weak moments

As bad as they are,

Weak moments are real.

And therefore they will come

Time and again.

No matter what rearranged words say

They are hard to deal.

Therefore it is okay.

It’s okay the way it makes you feel.

Bitter and sweet both are experiences.

Burning Tip

Put it out!

I have been dragged a lot

And beaten.

A part of me got lost

Every time I was shaken.

I was set on fire

Because of some unfulfilled desire.

Life was cut short in the end.

In smoke we mend.

Even though I take lives,

I hold more hands than humans do.

But I ask you to not rely on me,

I am ash and will make you too.

I know I am dishonest

But I am also the one who stays.

Even I don’t like myself to be honest

Find something else and put me in the ashtray.

Fiction

I have a theory that says,

Fiction is non-fiction in the making.

Those who transform a fiction into a fact

Change the ways of our living.

And that not many but one fiction

Resides in each of us.

Can we solve that question?

Do we have that obsession?

We seek greatness and immortality

In what lies in front of our eyes.

Maybe we fail because

It lies behind our eyes.

Find that fictitious thought,

Write it in your mind.

Heave till the fact is caught,

Fiction is yours but non-fiction is for the mankind.

We all have that one thought inside our mind which if realised and put out there in the world, it can make the world a better place.

Together!

Just a few more days!

Never before have we faced this,

A pandemic that stunted all of us together.

Every one of us should note this,

We will go down in history together.

Men, Women, Children, I ask you all

Let us go down as victors.

Let us become that generation

Which the future will call healers.

Let us hide our pain behind a mask,

Let us clean our hands before we meet,

Let 6 feets of distance prevail in each task,

Let us reduce walking on the street.

Let us ensure proper hygiene,

Let us make sure to help the needy,

Let us keep every inch of our house clean,

Let us just be ready.

And soon one day we will walk,

Walk without a mask

Walk without any fear

Hug every friend

Hold every dear.

Eat without being scared

Work without any boundaries

Go on trips which we had planned

Make a fresh set of memories.

One Day!

I see glimmering lights,

Pictures being clicked.

Blissful nights,

And my wave doing tricks.

I see a grand welcome,

And smiles all perfect.

In the presence of loved ones,

An atmosphere just so correct.

I am a hero there,

And they are mine to care for.

After completing the day to day affair,

I came home through the door.

♦️Not all spotlights need a red carpet.

Sunlight through the drapes

Just when I woke up.

As I lay motionless and warm,

Engulfed in the darkness of night,

I am convinced that I am blind,

For it has consumed my sight.

Every sound is of suspicion,

And surrounding is just unclear.

Such is the night of misconception,

Even Reason causes fear.

But now I am able to smile,

For I can see the shapes.

Darkness makes sight worthwhile,

Just like Sunlight through the drapes.
